Fieldwork turns ideas for Miami Valley Research Park into action.
Working on behalf of the Miami Valley Research Park Association, Fieldwork helps test, build, and operate new ways to make the Research Park a more active, connected, and welcoming place.
Our work starts with BaseCamp, a temporary gathering place designed to show what the Research Park can become when people have more reasons to stay, meet, eat, work, and spend time together.
But BaseCamp is only one part of the work.
Fieldwork supports implementation efforts across the Research Park, helping move ideas from plans and conversations into visible improvements on the ground. That can include temporary activations, events, public-space improvements, programming, partnerships, wayfinding, landscaping, amenities, and other projects that make the park easier and more enjoyable to use.
What We Do
Test ideas.
Use temporary projects and real-world experimentation to understand what works before making larger investments.
Activate places.
Bring programming, food, music, recreation, gathering spaces, and other activity into underused parts of the Research Park.
Build improvements.
Help implement physical changes that make the Research Park more comfortable, connected, and inviting.
Create partnerships.
Work with businesses, employees, residents, vendors, organizations, and community partners to bring new ideas to life.
Learn by doing.
Observe how people use each project, gather feedback, and use what we learn to shape future investment.
BaseCamp
BaseCamp is Fieldwork's first major activation within Miami Valley Research Park.
For a limited time, an ordinary part of the Research Park becomes a place to grab coffee, meet a coworker, have lunch, listen to music, play a game, enjoy a beer, or simply spend time outside.
It is both a gathering place and a real-world test.
What happens at BaseCamp will help inform what comes next for the Research Park.
From Planning to Doing
Fieldwork exists to help close the gap between a good idea and something people can actually experience.
Some projects may last a weekend. Others may become permanent. Each one is an opportunity to make the Research Park a little more connected, useful, social, and memorable.
